cabinets and construction ...

kitchens London W1Many people believe that one cabinet carcass is substantially the same as another, and that the only real difference in cabinets is in the doors, drawers and fittings. This is simply not so.

Assuming you are not having carcases made from solid wood - a very expensive option - then all carcass panels will be made from manufactured board, often referred to as 'chipboard'. However, not all manufactured boards are made to the same standard. Some forms of budget board are little more than thin sheets of plastic-coated sawdust and will fail with very little use. We source carcases exclusively from cabinet makers who use top-grade Egger Board - a recognised industry leader from Austria - in their construction. The carcases are extremely strong, will last for years and will even withstand being moved from one home to another.

kessebohmer London W1Drawers and 'wire work' (storage containers, 'magic corners', pull out larders and waste recycling units) take a pounding over the life of a kitchen. Wire work has to carry substantial loads for years without failing and drawers may be opened and closed tens of thousands of times, putting joints, runners and bearings under enormous stress. We source our drawers and wire work from the two leading German companies - Blum and Kesseböhmer.

Choosing doors and drawer fronts can be bewildering. In our galleries (see Traditional and Modern) we have included some pictures to give you a broad idea of what's available. The idea is to help you along a path of simple decisions: Do you favour modern or traditional kitchens? If traditional, do you prefer Shaker or Victorian? If Shaker, is it 'in frame' or not? Is it painted or wood grain? If it’s painted, do you prefer matt or gloss? And so on!

modern kitchens London W1Modern style choices are just as numerous - high gloss, matt or semi-gloss, 'handle-less' or with handles, etc.

If these choices appear confusing or even over-whelming, please don't worry. We'll be happy to chat through the options and help you to reach some choices.

We use professional kitchen fitters who are completely familiar with the product. That’s all that can really be said ... they know exactly what they are doing and take full responsibility for the quality of their work. We back our kitchens with a 10-year guarantee.

fittings quality ...

blum hinge

The quality of a kitchen is often defined by the quality of its fittings. Hinges that snap, bend or pull out of the carcase are common in budget kitchens, whilst hinges that close doors with a slam are common even in more expensive kitchens.

We install kitchens fitted with Blum's 'Clip Top BLUMOTION' hinges. They can be fitted and adjusted easily and close softly and gently even if you attempt to slam them.

For customers who want 'up and over' door lifts on wall units, we use fittings by Blum or Kessebohmer. Blum's Aventos door lift comes in six different versions and allows a range of beautiful designs including bi-fold doors. They're smooth, controlled and will support doors in whatever positions you want them. They can even be motorised so that they open automatically with a touch of the finger.
